Au dernier vivan† les biens (1997-98) - 49 electroacoustic soundscape meditations for random (shuffle) mode playback

from the cover:

Dear friends,
Welcome to "Sound Letter II". I released "Sound Letter I" in 1992 as a gift of sound to my friends and colleagues. In this spirit, I am pleased to present "Au Dernier Vivan† Les Biens".
This second sound letter is a collection of forty-nine electroacoustic soundscape mediations on spiritual themes.
These meditations were conceived for ambient listening using the random or shuffle mode of your CD player. They are open to numerous listening and broadcast possibilities, including in four tracks (with two copies of the piece playing simultaneously) or as a concert performance with improvisations with and around the pieces.
I invite you to 'play' and 'listen' with them.
I would like to request that you register each performance of the piece with local performance rights society (SOCAN in Canada) and that you do not make any 'commercial' use of this music without my permission.
"Sound Letter II" is a non-commercial, limited edition (1000 copies) which has been made available free of charge to subscribers of Musicworks magazine (issue #70) and to friends and colleagues along my path.

  • Went Tyu
Hi allI am Claude Schryer, the creator of this music and wanted to thank the one(s) who posted this for keeping the memory of this piece alive. I composed this in 1998 and distributed 1000 free copies around the world. The idea was to make the music available for radio play and personal enjoyment (this was pre mass-internet days). I still have about 20 left in my archives, which incidentally I am filtering out these days as my collection of DAT tape of soundscape recordings becomes increasingly obsolete.... All things will pass, including our records of sound and music... This being said it is good to know that someone out there is interested in documenting this kind of music on this site. I've stopped composing now but have good memories of this composition. It is really a composition of compositions in the sense that many of the 49 pieces are excerpts from other pieces or an edits of raw material form other pieces. I have compiled 9 of my favorites as a group that I call 'Les 9' and made a home CD of these. i sometimes meditate while listening to them. There is something powerful about recorded natural soundcapes and their electronic transformation that fascinates me. i guess it still does. I can be reached at [email protected] if anyone is interested. merci Claude
